Pests in your BBQ are a surprisingly common occurrence, with many people finding Ants, Spiders, Cockroaches and even rodents making a home in their backyard burner. Here are Flicks tips to removing Bugs in your BBQ!
1. Clean, clean, clean:
We say this a lot at Flick, but it’s true. Food and water attract pests like moths to a lightbulb. When you’ve finished cooking, remove all food scraps around the BBQ and scrape down that grill! For food that is hard to remove, cover the grill with foil after cooking and leave the burners on for a few minutes more. When you take the foil off, the extra grease and food will have turned to ash and be easier to wipe off.
2. Use an outdoor fan
Flies and other winged insects don’t stand up well to a good breeze, so using an outdoor fan to blow across the BBQ will help to keep the winged wreckers at bay. Plus it helps to keep you cool in the heat!
3. Bring the fire
Light the grill, close the lid and leave for 5 – 10 minutes. Less ideal for larger pests, but extremely effective against small ants, cockroaches and spiders. NOTE: NEVER LEAVE YOUR GRILL BURNING UNATTENDED.
